13th Texas Execution This Year

Tommy Ray Jackson, 43, became the 13th condemned inmate to be executed this year in Texas and the 212th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1982. He also became the 32nd inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 630th overall since the United States reinstated capital punishment in 1976.

Jackson insisted that he was innocent of the murder of a 24-year-old University of Texas student Rosalind Robison. "I cannot show any remorse for something I did not do," he said in his final statement. "If I did, I'd be faking, and there's nothing fake about me."

James Clary, an alleged accomplice, testified against Jackson and received a life prison term.
