"TOO LONG"

ANOTHER DAY COMES, THEN THE NIGHT STEALS IT AWAY,
IN THE DARKNESS, IT OPENS UP ONE'S MIND.
TO MOMENTS LONG PAST...MEMORIES STOWED AWAY,
FOR THINGS I TOOK FOR GRANTED, BITS & PIECES I FIND!

TOO LONG IT'S BEEN, SINCE I HEARD A CHILD AT PLAY,
OR A WOMAN'S SOFT VOICE....BREATHE MY NAME,
WIND BLOWING THROUGH THE TOPS OF PINE TREES,
AN OCEAN'S WAVES, CONTINUOUSLY ROLLING UN-TAMED

TOO LONG, WITHOUT THE AROMA OF MOTHER'S HOME COOKING,
OR A MORNING'S FRESH DEW, THAT BLANKETS THE GRASS LIKE TINY DIAMONDS.
A LADY'S UNIQUE FRAGRANCE, EMITTED FROM A BODY GLOWING,
AND ALL THE FISHING PARAPHERNALIA THAT GOES ALONG TO THE POND.

TOO LONG, YEP-JUST TOO LONG I'VE BEEN,
ENCASED IN ALL THIS CONCRETE & STEEL.
TOO LONG, SOMETIMES THE DAYS ARE, THAT...YOU CAN GLEAN,
FROM A PRISONER WHO HAS DREAMS OF DAYS GONE BY,
AND DAYS....YET TO COME!
